Privacy Policy

The short version: your videos and photos never leave your device. Kickcut has no accounts and no ads. It does use Google Firebase to collect usage statistics, crash reports and a device identifier, so we can see which features get used, fix bugs, and deliver push notifications. That data is not tied to your name or email, never includes the contents of your clips, and is never used for advertising or tracking.
What Kickcut does with your media
Kickcut is a video editor that runs on your iPhone. When you select clips from your photo library, they are processed locally on your device to detect the beat, apply cuts, filters and effects, and assemble your finished video. Your clips, and the video Kickcut creates, are never uploaded to any server — ours or anyone else's.
Permissions Kickcut asks for
- Photo Library access — used only to let you pick the clips you want to edit, and to save the video Kickcut creates back to your library. iOS's built-in picker means Kickcut can often do this without being granted full library access.
- Notifications — optional. Kickcut asks once. If you decline, or later turn them off in iOS Settings > Notifications > Kickcut, no notifications are shown.
Kickcut does not request access to your contacts, location, microphone, or camera.
Data we collect
Kickcut uses Google's Firebase services to collect the following. We have no user accounts, so none of it is linked to your name, email address, or any other detail that identifies you personally.
- Usage data. Which screens you open; which effects and filters you choose; whether an import or export starts, succeeds, fails or is cancelled, with the export quality and how long it took; how many clips you picked; and a coarse tempo range (for example "110–129 BPM") of the music in your clips. We never collect file names, project names, or anything from inside your clips, and never the audio itself.
- Crash and diagnostic data. When the app crashes or hits a handled error: a stack trace, your device model, iOS and app version, the state of the app at that moment, and a short trail of the app events that led up to it.
- Device identifiers. A random Firebase installation ID that is created for each install of the app, and the push token that Apple and Google use to deliver notifications to your device. Kickcut does not use or collect your advertising identifier (IDFA).
How we use it
To understand which features are used so we can improve them, to find and fix crashes, and to deliver notifications you have allowed. We do not sell this data, use it for advertising, or combine it with data from other companies to track you across apps and websites.
Third parties
Kickcut uses Google Firebase (Analytics, Crashlytics and Cloud Messaging) to collect and process the data above on our behalf, and Apple's Push Notification service to deliver notifications. Google's handling of this data is described in the Firebase privacy and security documentation. Kickcut does not include advertising SDKs.
Your choices
You can turn notifications off at any time in iOS Settings. Deleting the app removes everything stored on your device, and reinstalling it creates a new random installation ID. If you have a question about the data associated with your device, or want to request its deletion, email us at the address below.
Children's privacy
Kickcut is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. The limited usage, crash and device-identifier data described above is collected in the same way for every user.
Changes to this policy
If this policy changes — for example, if a future version of Kickcut adds a feature that collects new kinds of data — we will update this page and change the "Last updated" date above before that feature ships.
